It was 1933-34, and the world was deep into the Depression and unknowingly preparing for World War II. Germany had been punished for initiating the Great War or the War to End All Wars, known as World War I. It was the first war that not only engulfed all of Europe but the world as well. Much of Europe hoped that humiliating Germany in defeat would finally resolve the tensions between nations. However, just like Communism losing the Cold War, German nationalism, like Putin’s Russia, would rally back from defeat, and the threat of war loomed on the horizon.
