Hello and Welcome to the Huseby Family Website!
My name is Nelson Dean Huseby. My friends call me, Dean. My mom’s parents came from Norway and all of my dad’s grandparents came from there. So, I have always considered myself a Norwegian American. Norwegian just described the type of American I am proud to be.
I did ruin the bloodline when I married my non-Norwegian-American wife. Most of her family came to America in the 1600s and 1700s. In fact, only one line came after 1800. So, I have always felt that my children have the best of both worlds.
This webpage includes three portals:
a. Norwegian-American Cousin Connections: A series of articles that focuses on our Norwegian and Norwegian-American culture and family history.
b. Miller-Cook Family stories: This is a collection of biographies of my wife’s Early American ancestors.
a. Family History books: A series of biographical sketches of ancestors who moved from Norway to America. Haakinson Family History, Huseby Family History, Nelson Family History
b. The First Time I Met You: A sample of some of the 70 short stories about the first time I encountered someone. I have included a few stories that friends have told me.
a. When God Has Something Else in Mind: A book of poems I have written about my walk with a God who I could not see and often not hear, but who became very real to me.
b. Spiritual Principles Learned: My wife and I have had an interesting life and I wanted to share the stories of our lives and the lessons we learned from the challenges we faced.​
c. Songs: Friends of mine have begun to put music to my poetry. I have included some of this on this site.
