Spiritual Principles I Have Learned
Stories & Poetry
Life is an adventure full of challenges that either break or create a person. They can either open doors or, through bitterness, close them. Several years ago, the Lord challenged me with a verse from Romans 8:28 that reads, “God causes all things to work together for good for those who love Him and are called to according to His purposes.” Could I actually believe that? Does He really mean that? I think that is more than good karma. It is intentional on His part, but we often have to search for the good among the good, bad, and ugly things that life throws at us. Many bad and ugly things have happened to my wife and me through the years, so I took up the challenge He put before me. These stories are a result of that challenge. I have not sugar-coated them. Sometimes raw. Sometimes sweet. Sometimes very shocking. Sometimes hilarious, but always causing pieces to be put in places that made up the fabric of who we have become.

I hope you will take the time to read them and take up the challenge to discover His intention for your life through them. We all have to scrape off much crap, which has discolored our perception of His intentions. Perhaps bitterness has led us down a dead-end street that requires us to turn around like I had to do to discover His real purpose for my life. I pray that you find peace like I have found, when I realized how He never stopped loving me, no matter how much I might have screwed up my life.

Sure, some stories are not finished yet. But based on my relationship with him, I have to anticipate a surprise ending that only He can tell. While I call this series, "Lessons Learned," I have found even these lessons continue to be deepened. So I don't think I have arrived with these lessons I "learned," lest I trip and fall, only to learn yet another lesson with a story of His grace to tell.

I felt these stories and lessons were meant to be shared. Perhaps you have some stories you want to edit or rewrite and share with me. I am also available to help you with your edits.
