The Nelson ancestors originated in the rural areas surrounding the town of Lyngdal, Vest-Agder, west of Kristiansand. My great-grandfather, Johannes (John) Nelson, was born in Lyngdal in the gray area on the map below. During those years, they jumped around living and working on the farms named Saudland, Nakkestad, Åviga, Feda, Rema, Kvålsvik Svennevik, Høyland, Årnes, Kvålig, Skoland, Røyskår, Jasund, Møskedal, Kittelsnes and Bringsfjord. In Spind, the family lived on the Eigeland, Reisvåg, and Espeland farms.
