NAC-172 Viking Row

 Norway has qualified for the World Cup in soccer only four times (1938, 1994, 1998, and now 2026). In each of those previous events, Norway did not achieve what it has done this year. To qualify this year, it created what amounted to Norwegian hysteria that the Norwegian soccer (fotball) team reached the 2026 World Cup quarterfinals by knocking off perennial favorite Brazil. During their drive to the crown, a national phenomenon called the Viking Row was birthed. It seemed that all over social media, Norwegians began sitting down and rowing together as if they were in Viking longboats. Each person rowed in unison as they chanted. It happened in large cities, small towns, government buildings, sporting events, even the Norwegian Parliament, and actually anywhere people could congregate. It kept building in response to Norway’s successes in the 2026 World Cup. At World Cup events, thousands of Norwegians filled the stadium and stands across Norway and performed the Viking Row in unison.
