My wife loves quilts! We have several! So when my mom brought out a double wedding ring quilt made by Grandma Emma (Nelson) Huseby for my parents’ wedding, my wife gasped with awe. My mom was an excellent seamstress but had never made a quilt. She did not understand the craftsmanship that went into making the gift or its monetary value. When asked about it, Mom responded, “Oh, that old thing?” But as she watched how carefully Dawn handled it with near reverence and highly esteeming its expertise, she realized she possessed a real treasure. As a result, Mom made sure that my wife inherited “that old thing.”
