Winter Olympics NAC-87

The Olympics started in 1896 in Athens, Greece, home to the ancient Olympic games, which were held from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD. Since then, several other spinoff games have been initiated, such as the Special Olympics for those with disabilities.

Norway has hosted the Winter Olympics twice (1952 and 1994). Only the United States (four times) and France (three times) have hosted the event more often. Austria, Switzerland, Japan, Canada, and Italy have also hosted it twice. Norway and eleven other nations, including the United States, have participated in all 22 Winter Olympics.
