In my October 2013 article, I talked about Norwegian Americans and their contributions to America's infrastructure. Still, this time, I thought I would turn the tables and highlight some of the accomplishments and proposals that the Norwegians have or are about to undertake. However, I must warn you that this article might not be for the fearful and faint at heart, so read at your own risk.

Norwegian engineers have had a history of tackling the challenges of its hostile terrain, whether glaciers, fjords, or thousands of islands. For millenniums, the Norwegians had only one option in reaching its major towns and cities: by sea. During winter's fierce storms, going by sea was only for the courageous or those with all the time in the world. It took us seven days to cruise halfway up the coast of Norway. In mainland Europe, you would pass through a dozen nations in that amount of time, or you could drive across America from San Diego to Boston in less time.
