If I had not become a city planner, I would have wanted to be an architect. My closest colleagues know I constantly analyze architectural structures and have strong opinions. I love Victorian homes with all their gingerbread to sleek and bold contemporary styles. I am very much into downtown restoration, which was part of my job as a city planner. Therefore, when I discovered that one of the foremost shopping center architects was a Norwegian-American, I was pleasantly surprised, especially since he designed one in my newly adopted city of San Diego.
