When Dawn and I were in Tromsø, Norway, in 2005, we saw the Tromsø Lutheran Cathedral, built in 1861. It has the distinction of being the only wooden cathedral in Norway. The tour guide noted that in 1979, the Catholics built their new cathedral 100 meters north of the Tromsø Lutheran Cathedral so Catholics would have the bragging rights to the northernmost cathedral in the world.
