The progeniture of the American Wightman family was George Wightman, born in England, possibly London itself, on November 4, 1632. His lineage goes back nine generations from around Leicester, in central England, east of Birmingham. Some nearby towns where they lived were Burbage, Hinckley, and Elmsthorpe. I found it interesting because, in the 1950s, my wife's family lived in Hinckley, California. Yes, the one made famous by the movie Erin Brockovich, where the water supply was seriously contaminated by a local industry.
