Metcalf Family MC No. 97

               While some Metcalf family members have tried to take the family tree back to the Norman Conquest in 1066, I will begin this story with Captain James Metcalf, Esq., who was the son of John and Alice Metcalf. He was born in 1389 in Worton, Yorkshire, England. He was married to _____ Gelsone/Gibson of Ireby, Cumbria, England. James was living nearby in Worton where he was granted property in Nappa by Richard le Scoupe of Bolton. The two served in the army together. Eventually, Richard would return to battle in France and die there.
