             Upon discovering the presence of Drakes in Dawn’s family tree, my mind immediately turned to the renowned Sir Francis Drake, the English explorer and privateer. This feat of circumnavigating the globe between 1577 and 1580, making him the third person to do so, is a well-known part of history. However, it seems that the connection to our Drakes is not as direct as one might hope, despite some attempts to establish it. Nevertheless, prepare for a fascinating journey through English history.
