Henry Straight MCF-75

Writer's picture: Nelson HusebyNelson Huseby

In writing this story, it was hard to not deviate from the story of the Straight family and wander into the stories of those around them. There was inconclusive evidence that Henry Straight was the son of Captain John Straight, whose family came from Wonersh, Surrey County, England, so unfortunately, I will not be able to tell you where Henry Straight's ancestors came from in England. Instead, we know that Henry was born in 1652. I am unsure if he was born in England or Rhode Island. Most genealogists indicate that he was born in Greenwich, Rhode Island. Again, I doubt it. If he was born in Rhode Island, I believe it was in Portsmouth since that is where we find the first records of his existence.
