The story of the first Parmenter immigrant begins over a century earlier when George Parmenter, son of Guillaume Parmenter, moved to England from Dieppe, Siene-Maritime, Haute-Normandie, France. Its most notable structure is its castle, the Château de Dieppe, built in 1188, destroyed in 1195, and rebuilt in the 14th century. Today it is a museum.
