NAC-155 Letters from Norway

Writer's picture: Nelson HusebyNelson Huseby

In America, we have no idea what it was like to have lived through the Nazi occupation of Norway. I know many would like to forget that chapter in history or rewrite it, but it was real. We must appreciate the freedoms we often take for granted. I discovered several dozen letters that were written to my American cousins from our Norwegian cousins.

This may be the first in a series of letters. Since the authors and recipients have all passed away, I am not requesting permission to publish them. Because of their historical and familial value, I felt that they must be shared. The following was written just after the war and describes the challenges of putting their lives back together. If there are letters in Norway from your American cousins, I would love to include them in my collection.
