I know that we should probably leave some stories buried, and perhaps some would think that this story should be one of them. However, when it comes to slavery, the family can point out with pride that many in the Miller-Cook lineage volunteered to fight in the Civil War to ensure that slavery never again tarnished our nation's heritage.

The first Jennison arrived in America in 1630, probably on the ship, Arabella. His brother, Robert, came a short time later, and Robert was the family's ancestor. The Jennison family would become leading men of Watertown and early advocates of civil and religious liberty. Nathaniel Jennison was the great-grandson of Robert.
