This article may not be for hard-core genealogists, for you have often used this source. However, some people may be curious about how one can construct their family tree using a valuable tool known as the bygdebok. A bygdebok is a Norwegian farm book providing a detailed history of each farm in a parish and lists all those who have ever lived on those farms. Records do not usually go back any further than the 1600s or 1700s unless you have royalty in your lineage. But with the Protestant Reformation, local parishes took an interest in recording family records.
