The Bemis Family MCF-62

Writer's picture: Nelson HusebyNelson Huseby

There have been several times lately when I think I have run out of family stories to tell, and this month was one of those times. Then suddenly, I stumbled over stories for this month and the next. I have debated about telling this one from the perspective of life in Watertown, Massachusetts or just focusing on one of its families. This is because so many early ancestors lived there soon after arriving in America because Watertown was one of the earliest towns established in Massachusetts.

The Bemis family was one of several families that resided there in the 1600s. Others included the Stones, Stearns, Pierces, Treadways, Priests, Brighams, Jennisons, Pendletons, Spagues, Harringtons, and Gales. Many of their stories were the same and specific information about them is non-existent.
