Thomas Minor was born on April 23, 1608, in Chew Magna, County Somerset, England. He was the son of Clement Minor and Sarah Pope. Chew Magna is a small village with a population of about 1,100 with origins in ancient times, located on the northern end of the picturesque Mendip Hills. It had become a thriving woolen center by 1086, and today, it is known for its several historic buildings.
