In Norway, instead of states, they have 19 counties (fylke). In each county, there are municipalities known as kommunes. Most of the 428 Norwegian municipalities are not urban cities as we would think of municipalities in the United States. Most are very tiny towns. Each of their municipalities is further divided into parishes. Within a parish, there are often many farms with multiple residences.
For instance, there are 80 farms in the Leikanger parish, where my Huseby family is from. Across the Sogne Fjord is Vik, a municipality with five parishes. One of those parishes is Vik, with over fifty farms.
