Who was Mrs. Hemmingson? NAC-9

Writer's picture: Nelson HusebyNelson Huseby

If you are going to be a family historian (genealogist), you often have to be a detective. One mystery bothered me for a couple of years. I found a picture of two beautiful girls my Aunt Agnes gave me. I wanted to return it to one of their descendants, but I found the only clue on the back of the picture. There was a name, Hemmingson, and Beresford, South Dakota. I also remembered a story of a Mrs. Hemmingson staying with my Grandma Synneva Haakinson when her husband, Abel, passed away. Could she be the mother of the two girls? She must have been related to us if she had had to travel over 200 miles to be with Synneva. That was not an easy journey. But how would she be related to us?
