A Close Encounter with the Swedish Kind NAC-37

The cardinal rule is, “You never call a Norwegian a Swede.” For that matter, you don’t call a Dane or Finn a Swede, either. I was reminded of this when shopping in a furniture store last week, and Ms. Hansen waited on us. I asked whether she was Norwegian or Danish. I told her, I was Norwegian, and she replied she was Danish. Then she laughed, “At least I am not Swedish.” As a Norwegian, I know perfectly well that not all blondes are created equal.
