Clella Cook was born on August 10, 1913, in the home of her grandmother, Cora Cook, at 1020 Isaac Street in Lansing, Michigan. She was the daughter of Merle and Vera (Parmater) Cook. She was the oldest of nine children, and much was probably expected of her in raising the family
