When talking about the early Norwegians in America, it is either the Vikings or their mass migration in the 1800s and the early 1900s. Granted, 800,000 Norwegian immigrated to America during that later period, but you might be surprised that Norwegians arrived much earlier in America’s history than in the 1800s. Would you be surprised there were Norwegians who helped to found New York City in the 1600s?
