Edward Rainsford/Raynesford was the third son of Robert and Mary (Kirton) Rainsford, Esquire, of Staverton, in Northampton County, England, a village between Birmingham and Northampton, seventy-eight miles northwest of London. The town is the home of St. Mary the Virgin Church, a Christian site dating back over a thousand years. The existing church has sections that were built in the 1300s.
