Governor Robert Treat MCF-9

Robert Treat was born on February 23, 1624, in Pitminster, a tiny town near Taunton, Somerset, in southwestern England. Pitminster means the mother church of Pippa's people. Therefore, as one would expect, the most prominent building in the town is the Church of St. Mary and St. Andrew, built during the thirteenth century. The church, built on an ancient Saxon church site, is on the British Statutory List of Buildings with Special Architectural or Historic Interest. The Treat family would have undoubtedly worshiped here.
