John Maxson MCF-58

John Maxson was born in the Spring of 1638, the first white child born in Rhode Island. His life began traumatically. Before he was born, his father, Richard Maxson/Maggsen, along with his 13 year-old brother, Richard, as well as several other men were slaughtered by the Pequod Natives, while the group were traveling to get food and supplies. Richard’s pregnant wife, Rebecca, and some others escaped in a shallop, a small ship with sails and oars that can navigate in very shallow water.
