Marie Miller and Loyd Howeth MCF-87

Writer's picture: Nelson HusebyNelson Huseby

This is a story I received from Marie (Miller) Howeth. How much do you know about Marie and her early years? I have some information, but nothing really concrete as to dates until she married Loyd Clifton Howeth in Kansas on November 20, 1945. They had met during the war when he was in the Army Air Corps (later Air Force) in the Pacific. He had been stationed in Panama, for example. Marie was a supervisor for the telephone company from which she resigned when they married. He returned to duty while she went to Oklahoma to stay with his family. They got stationed at Muroc Air Force Base, later renamed Edwards Air Force Base. While they were there, Mike was born in Lancaster and became their only child. (Marie was 43 when he was born).
