In the last article, I honored family members who served in the Civil War. I thought I would take a step backward and recognize ancestors who served in the War of 1812. I think of all the wars that our nation became engaged in, this is the one that we don’t hear as much about, yet it was a turning point for our nation. So, before we identify the ancestors, I thought it would be good to first provide some background of the War.
